The Community Arts Project (CAP), a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1988, endeavors to create environments that enable people to freely explore healthy avenues of learning and expression in the arts, believing that this enriches the lives of all who live and work in our community.
The organization’s first programs were conducted in the Seaside, Oregon area and included workshops, forums, exhibits, and special events. In 1991, CAP’s address changed to South Tillamook County, Oregon.
Every summer since 1995, CAP has presented its children’s art program Slug Soup. In 2001, CAP board members decided to look for an additional, more in-depth way to serve a larger part of the local youth population over longer periods of time. In 2002, funded by a three-year start-up grant from a local foundation, CAP initiated its Art Literacy program at Nestucca Valley Elementary School. A second Art Literacy program was begun in 2005 at Garibaldi Grade School.
CAP’s programs have gained enthusiastic support from students, teachers, administrators, parents, community members and local businesses. All CAP fundraising events spotlight the arts and are well-attended.
The Community Arts Project is an active and viable organization with a very successful record of providing meaningful and enjoyable art experiences for people of all ages. Look for expanded art opportunities from CAP in the future!
